408 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1696/7-98.
Lib. X. Copy of the Iournal of the house of Delegates who says he has he is asked by what Authority he had it & does say he had it by Order of the house His Excellency is pleased in his Majestys Name to com mand him to go & fetch it in Order to deliver it up to which the Speaker makes Answer he does not know whether he can or no without the order of the house whereupon his Excellency Commanded him not to stir out of Town until he did deliver it Mr William Bladen Clerk of the house being sent for came who was Sworn to make true Answers to Such Questions as should be proposed to him He is asked if ever he was Ordered by his Excellency or his Majestys honble Council to alter any thing at any time in a Iournal of Assembly or was ever Ordered to leave out of his Iournals sent for England any thing Material who Says not except Private Petitions which Relate not to any publick affair Mr Speaker comes & delivers up the Iournal wch is delivered up to Mr Bladen with Express Order that [it] be one of the Iournals which is to be sent for England
[Letter from Gov. Andros.]
This day I received a Letter from Capt Bostock dated at his Tent at Guegith the 9th Inst giving me an Account that his Matys Advice Boat the Swift (which was drove on Shore neer Roanoke) is washed up on the Shoare some what higher then she was but without any Damage and doubts not but to Save her and desires my hastning to him her Anchors and Cables having written to Capt pound for what more he wants on that Occasion—I have again given Orders to hasten a Sloope to carry him his Anchors and Cables which I had ordered before to be weighed and sent to Capt pound for some men he had which did belong to the said Shipp, and what else he had to send for the said Service I am Yor most humble Servant Virginia March the 15th 1697 E Andros The above lre thus directed For his Matys Service
To his Excy Col: Francis Nicholson Capt Genll and Govr of Maryland forwarded this 25th of March to Mr Johnson R L Rëcd the 5th of Aprile
