The house proceed to consider of the Message from the
Upr House on Saturday Last about Mr Broomes Petition.
And the Question was putt whether leave shall be given to
bring in a Bill as prayed, Which was resolved in the Negative
by Majority of Votes.
Whereupon the following Message was prepared (Viz)
By the Lower house of Assembly
Augt 6th 1716
May It please yr Honrs
This house has in Complyance with your Message of Satur-
day last by Col Whittington about Mr John Broomes Petition,
reasumed the Consideration thereof and your Endorsment.
The Question was putt whether leave should be given to
bring in such a Bill & Resolved in the Negative by Majority
of Votes being of opinion that the bringing in such a Bill
would be of no Service for the publick but that since he entred
on that office in ffebruary he and all others in his Circumstance
ought to be content as his predecessors were to goe out of it
at the end of three years
