Assembly Yearly sworn to before one Provincial or County Magis-
trates Provided always that nothing herein contained shall extend or
be construed to extend to Prejudice or take away any Right or Claim
which the People of this Province have or ought to have to any
monies heretofore or now levied by the Right Honble the Lord
Proprietary under Cover of An Act of Assembly made in the Year
Seventeen hundred and four Entituled An Act for the Settlement
of an annual Revenue upon her Majesty's governor within this Pro-
vince for the time being or by any other ways or means whatsoever

Provided also that in case of the Death or absence of aforesaid
Col. Edward Sprigg during the Continuance of this Act that then
and in such Case the Naval officers aforesaid shall pay unto the Sure-
ties aforesaid of the same Col. Edward Sprigg the Monies arising
from the Impost or Duty aforesaid or so much thereof as shall be in
their Hands at the Time of such Death or absence or shall be col-
lected after the Death or during the Absence of the same Col. Edward
Sprigg which Sureties are hereby empowered and required to re-
ceive the said money and to apply and account for the same in like
manner and form as he the said Col. Edward Sprigg is hereby em-
powered and required to do in his life Time or Residence here any-
thing herein Contained to the Contrary notwithstanding.
And be it likewise Enacted That from and after the End of this
Session of Assembly the Armourer Smith Gunner or other Person
or Persons employed in taking care of the Arms and Ammunition
clearing or reparing the said Arms shall be paid their several and
respective Salaries or Allowances for their respective Service or
Services in the Current Money of this Province and that the same
Salary or Allowance be made in the Publick Levy and not otherwise
And be it further Enacted that the said Col. Edward Sprigg shall
and he is hereby directed to transmit all the Bills of Exchange or
moneys which he shall receive in Virtue of this Act to Mr Joseph
Adams Merchant in London to be by him kept and paid out accord-
ing to the Directions and to the uses in this Act mentioned. And
Whereas there is in the Hands of Mr William Hunt Merchant in
London the sum of three Hundred and fourty seven Pounds nine
Shillings and ten Pence on Account of Bills of Exchange sent him
for the Duty of Twenty shillings Sterling per Head on negroes pub-
lic Money belonging to this Province In order therefore for the Im-
mediate Supply of arms. Be it Enacted by the Authority aforesaid
that his Excellency the Governor or Commander in Chief for the
Time being with the Advice of his Lordships Council shall and he
is hereby empowered and required to send immediately to the said
William Hunt Merchant in London to send into this Province for
the Use of the Public the Value of Two Hundred Pounds in such
Arms as he the said Governor or Commander in Chief with the Ad-
vice aforesaid shall judge most necessary for the Service and Defence
