Your Conferees have agreed that the Officers Fees shall be under
the following Regulation viz.
That there shall be fifteen Pounds of Tobacco allowed for all
searches in the Superior Offices Searches under a Years standing
not to be Charged and nine ft of Tobacco p side reckoning 105
Words to aside for recording and Copying in the same Offices
That there shall be a Deduction of one fifth of all Officers fees as
now taken except for the above two Articles
That the Commissary General shall have no fees on small Estates
which shall not exceed the Value of thirty Pounds Currency nor on
services which shall be done by the Deputy Commissaries in Virtue
of their Office
That there shall be Tables of Fees in the Act according to the
Limitation now agreed on.
That Clerks shall be restrained from entring any Motion or Or-
ders in Civil or Criminal Cases but where any Party shall desire or
pay for the Entry
That there be a proper Clause in the Act to restrain Officers from
exacting or taking more or other Fees than such as shall be men-
tioned in it, and that there be an Oath of Office, and that the Act
shall Continue for seven years and to the end of the next Session of
Assembly which shall happen after the end of the said seven Years,
All which is submitted to the Consideration of both Houses

Read the second time the Bill entituled an Act for the Tryall of
all matters of Fact in the several Counties where they have arisen or
shall arise and Passed & sent to the Lower House with the following
Message by Colo Plater

Gentlemen
Altho' We have Passed the Bill Entituled an Act for the Tryall

of all matters of Fact in the several Counties where they have arisen
or shall arise without any Amendments Yet We must observe that
the Allowance intended by that Bill for the Justices of Assize is too
inconsiderable for the Trouble Care and Abilities of Gentlemen who
must by this Bill be intrusted with the distribution of Justice which
Concerns the Life Liberty & property of every Individual in the
Province therefore We recommend to Your Consideration that the
Allowance in the Bill may be increased to18000tt or fifty Pounds
Currency each Assize, and if Your House thinks proper to agree
to this Alteration it may be made in your House accordingly
