during the time when a lot of demonstrations were going on,

and you couldn't enter a hotel or motel or restaurant;

3

and it is just historical that the Constitution is being

4

written during this time when it is possible for the

5

world to see that democracy does work and can work. And

6

when each delegate goes back to his home, I hope he will

7

remember this as a prime example that we can get

8

along together; that nobody -- I don't think any American

9

citizen wants anything but first-class citizenship, and

10

just to be treated as an ordinary person, and I think

11

that was done here. ( Applause.)

DELEGATE GALLAGHER: Mr. President and ladies

and gentlemen: I don't think that anything has been said

15

during the course of the resolutions about the gratitude

16

which this Convention owes to the members of the original

17

Constitutional Convention Commission, of which you were

18

the Chairman, and I think it would be appropriate at this

19

time to record for the transcript of these proceedings our

20

gratitude to the Commission for the two years of

21

work which it did, and for the opportunity to have as our
