me that she was glad that we were going to finally adjourn.

Her name is Pandora. She said that although we came close

many times to opening her box, we never did, and that she

can support this Constitution 100 per cent. (Laughter

and applause.)

THE PRESIDENT: Delegate Burdette.

DELEGATE BURDETTE: Mr. President, I should

like to say for the record what may to some of you be

9

somewhat unusual.

At the close of the meetings of the Constitution-

11

al Convention Commission I was able to say the same thing

12

that I can now say about the Convention; that although I

13

have received mail and telegrams and other written communi-

14

cations, and I have heard here some discussions of pressure

15

or other forces brought upon some delegates, I can say,

16

sir, no person save a delegate or delegates has ever asked

17

for my vote, either in the Commission or this Convention.

I am not quite able to understand whether that

19

comes from my coming from Montgomery County or being a

20

university professor, but it is the literal truth, and I
