32        ACCOUNT.

" issued for the examination of witnesses, or
" of any party in such action or suit respectively,
" provided that in every such affidavit and
" affirmation there shall be expressed the addition
" of the party making such affidavit or affirmation,
" and the particular place of his or
" her abode."
 

Damages allowed
on protested
bills of
exchange.
    The damages to be allowed on protested
bills of exchange, are regulated by act of assembly
1715 ch. 7, as follows, viz.
 
    On all bills returned protested within eighteen
months from the date of such bills, there is
allowed fifteen per cent. damages, besides ordinary
costs of suit.
 
    On all bills returned protested after eighteen
months from the date of such bills, there is
allowed twenty per cent. damages, besides ordinary
costs of suit.
 
    And, all bills returned protested within four
years from the drawing of the same, shall be paid
with damages, before any other debt, which is
not under hand and seal.
 
Probate in
cases of rent.
    In case of rent, the proper voucher is the
lease itself, and such receipt and deposition as
