act, then a justice of the peace of said town or

county shall be hereby empowered to appoint judges

sufficient to fill the vacancy or vacancies, and they
|

shall proceed to hold an election as before specified ;

and the judges shall keep the polls open at least

three consecutive hours, (said polls shall be open at

count the ballots, and announce the result, and make

and sign a certificate thereof, to be filed among the

records of the said corporation; and the burgess

and commissioners so elected, shall, as soon there-

after as convenient, qualify and serve until the first
|
|
 
|

seven, or until their successors are elected and qual-

parties so failing, to accept the office to which he has
|
|
 
|
been elected.

SEC. 86. Be it enacted, That if the burgess, or any
|
|

SEC. 87. Be it enacted, That all future elections
