STATE OF MARYLAND,

EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT,

Annapolis, January 13, 1874.
Gentlemen of the, Senate of Maryland:

I nominate Henry Taylor, Justice of the Peace for the 9th
district of Baltimore county, vice John H. Gordon, deceased.

WM. PINKNEY WHYTE.

On motion by Mr. Davis,

The Senate advised and consented to the aforegoing ap-
pointment agreeably to the nomination.

On motion by Mr. Tuck,

The Senate resumed the consideration of Legislative busi-
ness.

THURSDAY, January 15, 1874.

The following communications which had been received
from his Excellency, Governor Whyte, by the hands of Hon.
Richard O, Hollyday, Secretary of State, were read:

EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT,

1st district of Prince George's county, vice John Clarke, who
failed to qualify.
