1512 MILITIA. [ART. 65

misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof before a justice of the peace
having criminal jurisdiction of the city or county wherein such offense
was committed, or by the circuit court of the county wherein such of-
fense was committed, or the criminal court of Baltimore city, should
the accused party prefer a jury trial, shall be fined not less than twenty
nor more than fifty dollars for each and every offense, and in default
of the payment of the fine and costs shall be committed to the jail of
the county or city, as the case may be, until such fine and costs are
paid, provided that said term of imprisonment shall not exceed thirty
days for each offense; such fines shall be paid to the adjutant-general
of the State, who shall apply the same to the use of the active militia.

1908, ch. 103, sec. 88.

87. The commanding officer upon any occasion of duty, may place
in arrest during the continuance thereof, any persons who shall tres-
pass upon the camp ground, parade ground, armory or other place
devoted to such duty, or who shall in any way or manner interrupt or
molest the orderly discharge of duty by those under arms, or who shall
disturb or prevent the passage of troops going to or returning from
any duty; he may prohibit and prevent the sale or use of all spiritu-
ous liquors, wines, ale or beer, the holding of huckster or auction sales
and all gambling within the limits of the post, camp ground, place of
encampment, parade or drill under his command.

1908. ch. 103. sec. 89.

88. No body of men other than the regularly organized corps of
the National Guard and the militia and the troops of the United States,
except such 'military organizations as and are now in existence, shall
associate themselves together as a military company or organization,
or parade in public as a military company or organization, in any city
or town in this State, except by permission of the governor and com-
mander-in-chief.

1908, ch. 103, sec. 90.

89. To promote efficiency, and as a reward for continuous service,
the commander-in-chief shall have power, under regulations to be pre-
scribed by him, to issue service medals of appropriate designs to officers
and enlisted men of the Maryland National Guard who shall complete
ten years of continuous service.

1908, ch. 103, sec. 91.

90. The separate organization in the city of Baltimore known as
the, veteran corps of the 5th regiment infantry, M. N. G., shall be
entitled to all the rights and privileges conferred by this article, except
that the said veteran corps shall not share in any appropriation made
for the support of the national guard unless the said veteran corps is
