Any person causing or knowingly permitting this section to be
violated shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction
shall be subject to a penalty of not less than five dollars nor more than
ten dollars.*

623. The Governor, by and with the advice and consent of the Sen-
ate, shall appoint a State Board of Prison Control, and the said Board

+The act of 1916, chapter 688, authorizes the managers of the Maryland house
of correction to purchase lands for the enlargement of said institution, etc.
++The act of 1918, chapter 303, authorizes the Maryland Industrial School for
Girls to convey all its property to the State of Maryland, and provides for the
continuance under the supervision and control of the state of the work of said
school, hereafter to be known as the Maryland Industrial Training School for
Girls, as a reformatory institution. Said act also provides for the management
and maintenance of said school.
