To open, &c.,
streets.
|
107. They may open, close, grade and level streets
and alleys, and remove all nuisances and obstructions
from the same, and prevent encroachments thereon
by building or otherwise; and if any person shall
neglect or refuse to remove such obstructions or
nuisances after being notified by said commissioner
so to do, the said commissioners shall have authority
to sell the same at public auction after ten days' pub-
lic notice, to the highest bidder for cash or on credit,
and the proceeds arising from such sales shall be paid
over to the treasurer for the benefit of the town,
and nothing herein contained shall be construed to
invalidate in any manner any official acts of the said
board of commissioners hitherto done, or performed
under the authority of the sections hereby altered or
amended.

1861, c. 12 repeals sections 151 and 154 and substitutes the following:

Annual levy

151. The county commissioners of Talbot county
shall levy annually an amount of money necessary
to be applied to the purposes of primary schools,
including the salaries of teachers, books, stationery
and fuel, and all incidental expenses not exceeding
thirty cents upon a hundred dollars of the taxable

How mode
|
property. The county commissioners shall levy the
amount of money necessary for the purposes of pri-
mary schools, separately from levies for other purpo-
ses, and it shall be the duty of the collector of taxes
|
|
Collector to
report
|
for the county to report every three months to the
board of county commissioners the amount collected
and deposited by him for these purposes.
