                                At a Court held for the County of Somerset in the Province of Maryland by their Maties Justices

                                of the Peace thereunto authorized the 13th day of November Anno Domini 1694 ___________

 

Comrs present         mr ffrancis Jenckins, Capt Jno Winder mr James Dashiel, mr James Round mr Samuel: Hopkins Capt

in Court were           John: Kings and mr Stephen: Horsey .


                

Upon Motion made to this Court by mr ffrancis: Jenckins. That mr Lawrence Crawford One of their Maties Overseers

of ye high wayes had absented himself & left this County. It was then by the Justices in Court Sitting Considered

and Ordered that mr Alexander: Maddux Should Succeed in Stead & place of sd Crawford as an Overseer of their Maties

high wayes and therein to Officiate according to Act of Assembly and as the Court shall Order &ca. - - - - - -


                

                                By his Exncie the Governor & Councel. &ca.

                                    October ye 18th 1694 .

Resolved & Ordered that the Courthouse lately begun to be built in Somerset County by Order of the Commissioners of ye

Said County be out of hand finished, And that the Courts be there held & kept. And that an Order of this Board of the 30

of July last past relating thereto be Null & Void.

John: Kirke this day brought before ye Court John: Holland Basterd Sonn of Hannah: Holland, and desired that

their Worps would Confirme him to sd Kirke till one & Twenty years of age the sd John Holland then being three

years old the tenth day of December next after ye date abovesd. the sd Kirke promised to give him one years

Schooling and one [ ] heifer with all her increase when at ten years of age & to keep the same for his use

which being Considered their Worps Confirms ye sd Holland to sd Kirke as prayed &ca.


                

Upon Petion of Wm: Browne for relief &ca. The worpll Court Orders that sd Browne be allowed four a hundred pounds

of Tobacco out of the next County Leavy. And also Orders four hundred pounds more to Marmaduke Mylove. —

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~              ffrancis Jenckins of ye Same County Gentl. of a Plea that he render unto

                                                                him Twenty thousand pounds of good Sound Merchantable tobacco & Caske

which to him he Oweth & unjustly detaineth l&ca And whereupon the Said ffrancis by Peter Dent his Attorney Saith

that the Said Lawrence the 24th day of ffebruary in the year of or Lord 1690/1, at Monocan within ye jurisdiction of this

Court by his Certaine Bond in writeing Obligatory which the Said ffrancis with the Seal of the Said Lawrence Signed brings

here into Court the date whereof is the day & year aforesd, acknowledged himself to be bound to the Said ffrancis in thle

Said full & just Sum of Twenty thousand pounds of Tobacco to be paid to the Said ffrancis upon demand upon Pocomoke

River, to the which payment well & truely to be made the Said Lawrence bound himself firmly by the sd Bill Nevertheless

the Said Lawrence the Said Sum to the Said ffrancis hath not paid to the damage of the Said ffrancis of thirty thousand pounds
