County, " sub-title "North East, " Section 288A having
been enacted by Chapter 88 of the Acts of 1933, relating
to the government of the Town of North East, and to
the enlargement of and the administration of its cor-
porate powers.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 288, 288A, 289 and 291 of Article
8 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930
Edition), entitled "Cecil County, " sub-title "North East, "
Section 288A having been enacted by Chapter 88 of the
Acts of 1933, be and the same are hereby repealed and
reenacted with amendments and to read as follows:
288. On the third Monday in March in the year
1939 (and on the same date biennially thereafter), said
voters shall elect a president of said board, who shall serve
for the two years thence ensuing, or until his successor is
duly elected and qualified; also on the third Monday of
March, 1939, said voters shall elect four Commis-
sioners for terms to be determined as follows: As soon as
said Commissioners have been elected and qualified they
shall by lot divide themselves into two classes, two of said
Commissioners to serve for two years from the date of
their election, or until their successors are elected and
qualified, and two to serve for one year from the date of
their election, or until their successors are duly elected
and qualified; and on the third Monday of March, 1940,
and on that date annually thereafter, said voters shall
elect two Commissioners to serve for two years from the
date of their election, or until their successors are elected
and qualified.
288A. The President and Commissioners of said town,
as the same are at present constituted and functioning,
are hereby authorized and directed not later than the first
Monday in March, in the year nineteen hundred and
thirty-nine, and their duly elected and qualified suc-
cessors by the first Monday in March, in every year
thereafter to appoint two registers of voters for the Town
of North East, said registers of voters shall receive the
same compensation as registers of voters under a General
Law of the State, and shall hold office for one year, and
until their successors are duly appointed and qualified;
said registers shall take the usual oath of office before the
President of said Commissioners of the Town of North
East, and the President and Commissioners of the Town
of North East shall procure and deliver to the said regis-
ters of voters two suitable registration books, similar in
