An act to extend the time to enable John S. Crockett, late
Sheriff and Collector of Somerset County, to complete
his Collections.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the time for the collection of officers fees, county levy,
chancery taxes, fines and forfeitures, and all other sums that
may be due and owing to John S. Crockett, as late sheriff
and collector of Somerset county, be and the same is here-
by extended to the first day of April, in the year eighteen
hundred and forty-two, and that within that time the said
John S. Crockett and his deputies shall have as full power
and authority to collect said dues as if his term of office
had not expired.

An act for the relief of Thomas Ayres, of Frederick
County.

WHEREAS, it is represented to1 this General Assembly,
that Thomas Ayres, a free colored man, is confined in the
jail of Frederick county for fine and fees, which he is una-
ble to pay:

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the sheriff of Frederick county be, and
he is hereby directed to discharge from custody, Thomas
Ayres, without requiring the fine and fees which stand
charged against him.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That, the bill of fees in the
case of Thomas Ayres, be presented to the levy court of
said county, who are hereby authorised to levy the same
upon said county for the use of those properly entitled to
them.
