ties and responsibilities hereinbefore granted and pre-
scribed to the American Telegraph Company, and such
corporation may be organised and put into operation at
such time, and in all respects in such way and manner
as the American Telegraph Company, and not to be in-
consistent with the laws of this State.

CHAP: 30.

SEC. 14. Be it further enacted, That this act shall
take effect immediately, and shall be deemed a public
act.

SEC. 15. And be it further enacted, That these cor-
porations, or either of them, shall not be permitted to
issue any note, token, device, scrip or other evidence of
debt, to be used as a currency.

SEC. 16. And be it further enacted, That this act
of incorporation shall endure for forty years from its
passage; and the legislature secures to itself the right
to alter or annul this act of incorporation at pleasure.

Reservation.

An act to change the name of Catharine Maker, to that
of Catharine Coudy, and to authorise James Coudy
and Mahala his wife, to adopt said Catharine as
their daughter and legal heir.
|

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the name of Catharine Maker of
Washington county, be and the same is hereby
changed to that of Catharine Coudy,
SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That James Coudy and
Mahala his wife, of said county, be and they are here-
by authorised to adopt the said Catharine Maker as
their daughter and legal heir at law.
