Roads", sub-title "State Highway Construction Bonds, Second Is
sue", said new section to be known as Section 162 B-1A and to fol-
low immediately after Section 162 B-l of said Article, authorizing
the State Roads Commission to construct certain approach roads
within Baltimore City to connect with the Northeastern Express-
way.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new section to be known as Section 162 B-1A be and the same
is hereby added to Article 89B of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1951 Edition and 1956 Supplement), title "State Roads", sub-title
"State Highway Construction Bonds, Second Issue", said new section
to follow immediately after Section 162 B-l thereof, and to read as
follows:

162 B-1A. The State Roads Commission, notwithstanding the
provisions of Section 162 B-l of this Article, is authorized to con-
struct, from money available in its construction fund, satisfactory
approach roads within Baltimore City to connect the Northeastern
Expressway with nearby roads and streets, if said Northeastern
Expressway is not constructed in its entirety as a toll highway.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

CHAPTER 438
(Senate Bill 622)

AN ACT to add new Section 265A to Article 14 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Howard County",
sub-title "Roads", said new section to follow immediately after
Section 265 thereof, relating to the use of prisoners in the county
jail of Howard County for certain purposes.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 265A be and it is hereby added to Article 14 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Howard County", sub-title "Roads", said new section to follow im-
mediately after Section 265 thereof and to read as follows:

265A. Whenever any person shall have been convicted in any
criminal proceeding of any crime or any offense against, or violation
of any law, state, county or municipal, and as a punishment therefor
or in default of a fine imposed, has been committed to the county
jail of Howard County by the judgment of the Circuit Court for
Howard County, or any Trial Magistrate thereof, it shall be lawful
for the County Commissioners of Howard County, and they are
hereby authorized and empowered, with the consent of the Sheriff
