which body corporate has been, for at least one year next preceding the election,
and at the time of the election is assessed with, and is the owner of, real or
personal property on the tax books of said town of the value of more than Five
Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00), provided, however, the share or shares of stock of
such person, in proportion to all the shares of stock that have been outstanding for
at least one year preceding said election, represent a proportionate interest in said
assessed property amounting to at least Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00),
according to the assessed value of such property] AND (C) ONE WHO IS 21
YEARS OF AGE.
Section 173 as amended shall read as follows:
173. QUALIFICATIONS FOR ELECTION AS MAYOR OR CITY
COUNCILMAN.
Any person to qualify as a candidate for election as Mayor of Ocean City or as
a City Councilman of Ocean City must be: (a) qualified as a voter in town
elections in accordance with the provisions of Section 175 hereof; (b) one who, for
one year next preceding the election, has been and is, at the time of the election, a
resident of the Tenth Election District of Worcester County, Maryland; and (c)
one who is 21 years of age.
Resolved this 17th day of April, 1972, upon motion by Councilman Elbridge
Cropper, seconded by Councilman John Dale Showell, III and carried
unanimously.

NOTIFICATION OF CHARTER AMENDMENT TO THE CHARTER
OF THE TOWN OF OCEAN CITY, MARYLAND
I, Harry W. Kelley, Mayor of the Town of Ocean City, Maryland, a Maryland
municipal corporation, being the chief executive officer of said municipal
corporation, do hereby give notice to the Secretary of State of Maryland and to
the State Department of Legislative Reference, that the Charter of the Town of
Ocean City, Maryland, has been amended as follows:
1. Section Amended - SECTION 175 - "QUALIFICATIONS OF VOTERS"
Complete text of resolution amending said section of said charter is attached
hereto. The date of the resolution is 21 February 1972.
2. Referendum Election - There was no Referendum Election nor was there any
Petition for Referendum filed.
