SEC. 8-209. PERSONS EXEMPT FROM JURY SERVICE;
LIMITATIONS ON DUTY.

(A)    THE ONLY PERSONS EXEMPT FROM JURY SERVICE
ARE:

(1)   A MEMBER OF THE ORGANIZED MILITIA WHO IS
CERTIFIED BY THE MILITARY DEPARTMENT AS A MEMBER; AND

(2)    A PERSON WHO IS 70 YEARS OLD OR OLDER
WHO HAS MADE A WRITTEN REQUEST TO THE JURY
COMMISSIONER OR CLERK FOR AN EXEMPTION.

(B)   LIMITATIONS ON DUTY.

IN ANY THREE-YEAR PERIOD, A PERSON MAY NOT BE
REQUIRED TO:

(1)   SERVE OR ATTEND COURT FOR PROSPECTIVE
SERVICE AS A PETIT JUROR FOR MORE THAN ONE TERM OF
COURT, EXCEPT WHEN NECESSARY TO COMPLETE SERVICE IN A
PARTICULAR CASE; OR

(2)   SERVE ON MORE THAN ONE GRAND JURY; OR

(3)   SERVE AS BOTH A GRAND AND PETIT JUROR.

REVISOR'S NOTE: Subsection (a) presently appears
as Art. 51, §8.

Subsection (b) presently appears as

subsection (d) of §9. It has been placed   in

this section because it is actually an
exemption rather than an exclusion.

The following British statutes which
conflicted with this section were repealed by
Ch. 648, H.B. 1587, Acts of 1973: 5 Henry 8
c6 exempting doctors and "barber surgeons",
and 6 and 7 William and Mary c5 exempting
apothecaries.

The only other changes made are in style.
SEC. 8-210. EXCUSES FROM JURY SERVICE.
(A) EXCUSE FROM SERVICE.
ANY PERSON SUMMONED FOR JURY SERVICE MAY BE
