3022 JOINT RESOLUTIONS
RESOLVED, That the Public Service Commission shall
report its findings and recommendations to the Governor
and to the General Assembly by January 1, 1975.
Approved April 30, 1974.
NO. 36
(House Joint Resolution 33)
A House Joint Resolution concerning
Fares of Mass Transit Administration
FOR the purpose of requesting the Secretary of
Transportation to institute "Super [[Sunday]]
Weekend" in the Mass Transit Administration.
WHEREAS, The Mass Transit Administration (MTA) has
recently implemented Super Sunday, and it has proved a
great success.
The brochure explaining Super Sunday states:
"Are you weary of dreary stay—at—home winter
weekends? Want to get out and do something?
But the energy crisis makes you reluctant to
drive anywhere?"
"You can ride to super places, see and do
super things, and much, much more because the
MTA serves most churches and synagogues,
colleges, universities, hospitals, parks,
movie theatres, restaurants, bowling alleys
and bakeries. You name it and the MTA
probably serves it."
"Super Sunday tickets may be purchased from
any MTA bus driver for fifty cents (50¢) exact
fare and are good all day Sunday, 5 a.m. to
midnight and on holidays when MTA Sunday bus
schedules are in effect. There is no transfer
charge with a Super Sunday ticket and zone
fare charges are five cents (5*) for Super
Sunday ticket users. Senior Citizens and
children rates in the initial zone remain at
15 cents. Super Sunday tickets are not
applicable on MTA Special Event services such
as Football and Baseball expresses."
The program should be extended to include Saturday,
benefiting the people with a Super Weekend.
