COUNTY LOCAL LAWS
Ordinance shall take effect forty—five (45) days from the
date it becomes law.

AN ORDINANCE to repeal and re-enact, with
amendments, Sections 1—222(a)(2) and 1—226(a) and (c) of
the Anne Arundel County Code (1967 Edition and
Supplements), Title 1, "Administration," Subtitle 2,
"Personnel", Article III, "Employees' Retirement Plan",
to eliminate appointed and elected officials from the
Employees' Retirement Plan, and matters generally related
thereto.
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNTY COUNCIL OF
ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MARYLAND, That Sections 1-222(a)(2)
and 1—226(a) and (c) of the Anne Arundel County Code
(1967 Edition and Supplements), Title 1,
"Administration", Subtitle 2, "Personnel", Article III,
"Employees' Retirement Plan", be, and they are hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:
Section 1.222(a).
(2) A future employee who is under age
fifty—five on his date of hire and who is not an elected
or appointed official will become covered as of his date
of hire. [A] EXCEPT FOR APPOINTED OR ELECTED OFFICIALS, A
future employee who is age fifty—five or over on his date
of hire [or who is an elected or appointed official] may
elect to become covered under this plan as of the first
day of the pay period following the date of his election
to participate in the plan.
Section 1.226.
(a) [If] EXCEPT FOP APPOINTED OR ELECTED
OFFICIALS, IF an employee's service with the county
terminates before his retirement date and after he has
completed ten years of service for, if he is an appointed
or elected official, he has completed five years of
service,] he may elect either:
(1) To be paid his participant's
contributions with credited interest, thus ceasing to be
a participant; or
(2) To receive a retirement pension,
