CHAPTER 39

(House Bill 552)

AN ACT concerning

Referendum Matters — Publication

FOR the purpose of providing that the publication of any
laws upon which a referendum vote of the entire
State is to be taken shall be paid for out of funds
provided in the budget of the State Administrative
Board of Election Laws; and making style changes.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 33 — Election Code

Section 23-10

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1971 Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 23-10 of Article 33 - Election
Code, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971 Replacement
Volume and 1975 Supplement) be and it is hereby repealed
and reenacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

Article 33 — Election Code

23-10.

The cost of publishing in newspapers any laws upon
which a referendum vote shall be taken under the
provisions of Article XVI of the Constitution shall be
paid as follows: If [said] THE law is submitted to the
voters of the entire State, by the [Secretary of State]
STATE ADMINISTRATIVE BOARD OF ELECTION LAMS out of funds
appropriated for [said] THAT purpose by the General
Assembly in the budget bill; if [said] THE law is
submitted to the voters of any county of the State, by
the board of county commissioners or county council of
[said] THE county, and if [said] THE law is submitted to
the voters of the City of Baltimore, by the mayor and
city council of Baltimore.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1976.
