provide for two studies to

be performed by independent

consultant(s) in the
Correctional Services area.
The first study will
consider the inmate
classification system to
evaluate the present system
and make recommendations
concerning assessment of
risk and efficient
management of the inmate
population toward the
development of more reliable
and effective system. The
second study will develop a
10 year facilities plan for
the Division of Correction
and the Patuxent
Institution, such study to
consider the needs for all
types of facilities required
for the inmate population
and examine the effect of

disparate sentencing upon

the prison population.

Provided that the selection

of consultant(s) for the

proposed studies is reviewed
and approved by the Board of
Public Works.
