       Maryland Prince Georges County Sc.t

            I hereby certify that the bearer hereof a
       black man by the name of Stephen of a dark
       complexion about five feet nine or ten inches
       high with a large black mole on the right
       side of his Chin is a free man being the
       descendant of Negro Cate a free woman and
       who obtained her freedom by a Deed of Manumission
       from John Williams & wife bearing date the  
       third day of December in the year of our Lord
       one thousand seven hundred and ninety one

                   in Testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe
       (seal)    my name and affix the seal of the said
                   County Court this nineteenth day of
       January in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight
       hundred and Eighteen
