Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland
Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 1433.

This bill alters the deadline by which the Republican State
Central Committee shall certify the number of delegates to be
elected from each congressional district and the number to be
elected at large.

Senate Bill 949, which was passed by the General Assembly
and signed by me on June 2, 1987, accomplishes the same purpose.
Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House Bill 1433.

AN ACT concerning

Republican Presidential Primary

FOR the purpose of altering the deadline by which the Republican
State Central Committee shall certify the number of
delegates to be elected from each congressional district and
the number to be elected at large; clarifying altering
provisions relating to the selection of alternative
delegates to the Republican national convention and to;
clarifying the filling of vacancies in the office of
delegate or delegate-elect for that convention; and altering
the manner in which the Board of State Canvassers shall
report the primary election results, of each political
party, for candidates for president and for delegate to the
national conventions.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
