State Board of Nursing - Distribution of Fees - Hilda Mae Snoops R.N. Fund

FOR the purpose of repealing altering a certain provision of law that requires the State
Comptroller to distribute certain fees received from the State Board of Nursing to
the General Fund of the State; making a technical change clarifying language;
requiring the State Comptroller to distribute certain fees received from the State
Board of Nursing to the Hilda Mae Snoops R.N. Fund; establishing the Hilda Mae
Snoops R.N. Fund (Fund); specifying the use of the Fund; requiring the Board of
Nursing to administer the Fund and adopt certain regulations; terminating the Fund
on a certain date; requiring the reversion of certain funds to the General Fund of
the State; requiring the Comptroller to distribute certain fees to the Board of
Nursing after a certain date; requiring the Legislative Auditor to audit certain
accounts and transactions; providing for a delayed effective date; and generally
relating to the distribution of fees received from the State Board of Nursing by the
Comptroller of the State to the Board of Nursing Fund and to the Hilda Mae
Snoops R.N. Fund.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

8-206.

(a)     There is a Board of Nursing Fund.

(b)     (1) The Board may set reasonable fees for the issuance and renewal of
licenses and its other services.

(2) The fees charged shall be set so as to produce funds to approximate the
cost of maintaining the Board and contributing to the General Fund of the State HILDA
MAE SNOOPS R.N. FUND as provided in subsection (d) of this section.

(c)     The Board shall publish in its rules and regulations the fees that it sets.

(d)     (1) The Board shall pay all fees collected under the provisions of this title to
the Comptroller of the State.

(2) The EXCEPT AS OTHERWISE PROVIDED IN SUBSECTION (H)(8) OF
THIS SECTION, THE Comptroller shall distribute[:

(i) 20 percent of the fees received from the Board to the General
HILDA MAE SNOOPS R.N. Fund of the State ESTABLISHED UNDER SUBSECTION (H) OF
THIS SECTION; and

(ii) The balance of] the fees to the Board of Nursing FUND.
