to me for a certificate of her freedom agreeably to the act of assembly in such
case made and provided by which said act free negroes and mulattoes are
permitted to travel out of this State upon the obtention of a certificate of
being free:  And whereas also upon the oath of Abraham Jump of Caroline
County that the said negro girl named Millissa for whom this certificate is
made is the same person mentioned in the said manumission.  I do therefore
grant her said application and hereby certify that from her age as expressed in
the said manumission she will be twenty six years of age in August next five
feet four inches or thereabouts of a black complexion was born and raised in
Caroline County and has a small scar of a cut at the corner of her right eye
and three other small scars of burns on her right arm one on her wrist joint and
two others on the small of her arm a little above the wrist and two other scars of
burns on her left arm one on wrist joint and the other just above it and no
other notable marks or scars that I have observed
(seal)   In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix the public
           seal of my office this 29th day of May Anno Domini 1832

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit; Whereas application hath been
made to me by a mulattoe man named Daniel Gibson for a certificate of his
freedom agreeably to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided by which
said act free negroes and mulattoes are permitted to travel out of this state upon
the obtention of a certificate of being free born and whereas also upon the declarations
of William Potter and Joseph P. W. Richardson of Caroline County that the said
mulattoe man named Daniel Gibson for whom this certificate is made was
free born I do therefore grant his said application and hereby certify that from
his own account he was twenty one years of age the seventh day of May
Instant five feet two inches high or thereabouts of a mulattoe complexion was
born and raised in Caroline County and has a large black mole on his left shoulder
straight and very dark brown hair and no other notable marks or scars that
I have observed      In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix
(seal)   the public seal of my office this 259th day of May Anno Domini 1832
