65 occasioned by a burn and a small scar on the breast and no other notable marks I can discover In Testimony whereof I have hereto set my (Seal) hand and affixed the public seal of my office this fifth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and fifteen Tho Richardson Clerk Caroline County Court Maryland Caroline County to wit Whereas on the twenty fourth day of May in the year Eighteen hundred and five Richard Webb and Nancy Webb of Caroline County afsd by a Deed of manumission duly executed acknowledged and recorded amongst the Records of Caroline County did manumit and set free a negro man named Tytus to be free from and after the first day of May Eighteen hundred and fifteen and whereas the said negro man named Tytus hath made application to me for a certificate of his freedom agreeably to the provisions of the act of assembly in such cases made and provided and being satisfied by the oath of Jenifer S Taylor of the County afsd that the said negro man named Tytus is the identical person mentioned in the manumission afs.d I do therefore grant his said application and hereby certify that he is very black has a scar on the out side of his right leg and a slight scar between his Eye brows he says he is about thirty one years old was raised in Caroline County he is five feet Eight and a half inches high or thereabout and no other notable marks I can discover In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set (Seal) my hand and affixed the pubic seal of my office this seventeenth day of May in the year Eighteen hundred and fifteen Tho Richardson Clerk Caroline County Court |
