Report to Senate Education, Health & Environmental Affairs Committee, & House Health & Government Operations Committee on administrative process for resolving appeals under Maryland Public Information Act due Jan. 1, 2015 (Chapter 102, Acts of 2014).
In June 2014, the Joint Committee on Legislative Information Technology and Open Government was authorized by the General Assembly (Chapters 464, Acts of 2014). At that time, the Committee consolidated functions of the former Joint Committee on Legislative Data Systems, and the Joint Committee on Transparency and Open Government.
The Committee reviewed and evaluated legislative information technology systems and goals for the General Assembly and its staff agencies. The Committee also identified ways to improve transparency, citizen engagement, and public awareness of and access to government resources, publications, and actions. To enhance the security of State information technology systems and information held by State government agencies, the Committee evaluated the effects of transparency and open government policies and actions and made recommendations for improvement.
Of the Committee's twelve members, six senators were appointed by the Senate President, and six delegates were named by the House Speaker. The Senate President and House Speaker each named a Co-Chair (Code State Government Article, sec. 2-10A-14).
The Committee last met in 2018.
