The Commission is to recommend how best to grant authority to the Maryland Department of Health to ensure that each health occupation board remedies audit findings and violations of law, regulation, or policy; and establishes certain policies and procedures. Also, it will recommend how to establish a comprehensive licensure system that may be used by a health occupations board; authorize a health occupations board that uses that comprehensive licensure system to use license fees to support the system; and consolidate administrative functions to establish and enhance efficiency and control in all areas, including through the use of existing Department systems for e–mail, finance, and human resources services across all health occupations boards. Further, the Commission is to recommend how to increase public awareness and use of the Maryland quality-reporting website of the Maryland Health Care Commission to help individuals select appropriate health care settings.
Eleven members constitute the Commission. The Senate President and House Speaker each appoint one member who serves as co-chair. Nine members serve ex officio (Chapter 369, Acts of 2026; Code Health-General Article, sec. 1–103).
