KENT COUNTY, MARYLAND

[County Seal, Kent County, Maryland] Origin: Kent was first mentioned as a county on August 2, 1642, when the Governor and Council appointed commissioners for the Isle and County of Kent. The County was named for Kent County in southeast England bordering the English Channel.

Boundaries: Bounded north by Cecil County; east by Delware; south by Queen Anne's County; west by Chesapeake Bay.
