Counties.

[Council to G. Keeports.]

In Council Annapolis 23r Apl 1778.
Sir
We are told that two Coppers were put on Shore from the
Conqueror Galley, in the Care of one Mr Patton of Baltimore
who is since dead, and that his Executors are about selling them.
We shall be obliged to you to stop the Sale and receive them
into your Store. If the Execrs are in any Doubt about the
Propriety, we suppose Capt David or some of the Officers can
easily give them Satisfaction

[Council to Delegates n i Congress.]

In Council Annapolis 23d Apl 1778.
Gent
We inclose you a Copy of Part of our Supply Bill and re.
quest you to apply to Congress, for the one hundred Thousand
Dollars mentioned in it. The Bill empowers us, if Money
cannot be otherwise obtained, to emit and issue 300,000
Dollars, which we shall be obliged to do, tho' very reluctantly,
if Congress does not supply us. The Assembly have said
that many of the Demands on the Treasury are on the Conti-
nental Account; they might have said that the Demands were
principally on that Account. If you should get the Money,
the sooner you can send it down, the better. We hear that a
Brig, in which Mr Morris is chiefly interested, with a very
large Cargoe of coarse Linens, has arrived at the Inlets and
run on the Bar, but that the Cargoe is nearly, if not all, saved.
We shall want a good Deal of Linen and wish you to engage
a Preference for this State in at least loo ps of Oznabrigs for
Coatees and Overalls for our Troops, or to the Amount of that
Quantity in other coarse Linens, suitable for those Purposes:
besides which, if there's any Linen proper for Shirting, we
should be glad of a Quantity of it 10, 15 or 20000 yards. If
Mr Morris is not at Congress, do send an express to him, it is
a Capital object with us and, if we succeed, our Men will be
very well off.
Deputies in Congress. We are &ca
