respect for it without losing their own point of view. The

2

have talked, but also have listened, and debated intensely,

3

both in committee and on the floor of the Convention. All

4

of this has not only resulted in the establishment of warm

5

friendships, but in a clearer understanding on the part of

6

all of them of the problems, the desires, the interests of

7

the people in different areas of the State. This is a

8

tremendously cohesive force for the benefit of the whole

9

State. It too is a part of the Annapolis Achievement.

10

Last July this Convention honored me by selecting

11

me as its President. I have, since then, endeavored to

12

perform the duties of that high office to the very best of

13

my ability. Any success that I have been able to achieve

14

has been due in no small part to the greatest degree of

15

cooperation from each and every delegate that the president

16

of any assembly ever had. It is the sincerest compliment

17

that could be paid to me and it is the one I cherish most.

18

From the bottom of my heart, I thank you, each and every

19

one.

(The Delegates to the Constitutional Convention,

21

the Officers, the Staff, the Press, and the Visitors arose
