Mr. H. Vernon Eney, to have been the greatest of good

fortunes.

The Commission which he headed was non-partisan
|
|

and represented the varying shades of interests in our
|
|

|
State. Its final report speaks for tiself, and I need not
|
|
6
|
elaborate further on it here; but I do want to say that we
|
|

|
were indeed fortunate that eleven of the members of the
|
|
8
|
original study Commission were elected delegates to this
|
|
9
|
Convention, including our President.
|
|

|
The opportunity to work with Mr. Eney during the
|
|
11
|
past few years has been a most rewarding experience and one
|
|
12
|
I shall always remember.
|
|

|
We all regret, I know, that former Governor
|
|
14
|
William Preston Lane, the Honorary Chairman of the Commission,
|
|
15
|
did not live to see the final product of its labors.
|
|
16
|
Governor Lane was a loyal and faithful member of the
|
|
17
|
Commission and contributed greatly to its deliberations.
|
|

|
We are grateful also to Governor Agnew and to
|
|
19
|
the Maryland General Assembly for the support and the
|
|
20
|
encouragement they have given this Convention.
