An INVENTORY of the goods and chattels of
A. B. late of ------ county deceased, appraised
in current money of this province, by
us the subscribers (being thereto lawfully authorised
and sworn) this -- day of -- anno --

And its essential properties are as follow,
viz.

The appraisers must give early notice of the
time and place appointed for appraisement, to
two persons, being of the next of kin, as also
to two of the creditors of the deceased, and in
their presence, proceed to the valuation of all
and singular the deceased's goods, chattels,
wares and merchandises, such as ready money,
houshold furniture, cloathing, negroes, stock
of cattle, corn, the crop on hand begun in the
lifetime of the deceased, and every sort of property
in and about the house, of what kind soever,
not being a freehold, or parcel of it, or
fixed to it, (the convenient apparel of the widow,
according to her degree excepted;) as also
of all leases for years, how long soever the
term may be, simply and determinable on a life,
or lives, and likewise continuing freeholds, not
descendible; but care ought to be taken not to
confound a descendible freehold, which belongs to
the heir, with one that is not so; a freehold |
