Sec. 6. And be it further enacted, That the said
County Commissioners are hereby authorized and
empowered to tear down, and remove the present
Almshouse of said county and provide temporarily,
at the expense of the said county, such accommo-
dations for the paupers, as they may deem proper
and expedient, until the new Almshouse is finished
and fit to be used.

Sec. 7. And be it further enacted, That this Act
shall take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 59.
|

AN ACT to direct the Attorney General of this
State to cause the State of Maryland to he, by
proper proceedings, made a party in a cause,
now pending in the Circuit Court of Baltimore
City, entitled the " Commonwealth of Virginia
versus the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Compa-
ny " and others ; and to appear for this State in
said cause, and on its behalf to defend the same.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Attorney General of this
State be and he is hereby directed to cause the State
of Maryland to be by proper proceedings made a
party defendant in a cause now pending in the
Circuit Court of Baltimore City, entitled " The
Commonwealth of Virginia versus The Chesapeake
and Ohio Canal Company" and others, and on
behalf of this State to appear therein and defend
the same and also to appear, on behalf of this
State, and in like manner to have the State made
a party, to any other case now, or hereafter to be
