CHAPTER 67.
AN ACT to enable certain alien heirs of William
Dalzell, late of Montgomery County, deceased,
to take by descent certain lands lying in Mont-
gomery County, of which the said William
Dalzell died, seized and possessed.

WHEREAS, a certain William Dalzell, late of
Montgomery County, Maryland, some time in the
month of December, in the year eighteen hundred
and sixty-eight, departed this life, being at the
time of his death seized and possessed of certain

lands lying and being in said Montgomery Coun-
ty, and leaving as his heirs at law a sister and the
children of several brothers and sisters, residing
in various parts of the United States and Great
Britain, the following heirs-at-law of the said
William Dalzell, viz; Margaret McCutchion,
Samuel McGimpsey, Margaret McGimpsey, Mar-
tha McGimpsey, Jane Mawhirk, Sarah Canning,
Eliza Canning, Margaret Trupland, and Christian
McCracken, reside in Ireland and Scotland, and
are alien, and are, therefore, by the laws of the
State of Maryland incapacitated from taking by
descent lands lying in the State, therefore,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Margaret McCutchion, Sam-
uel McGimpsey, Margaret McGimpsey, Martha
McGimpsey, Jane Mawhirk, Sarah Canning, Eliza
Canning, Margaret Trupland, and Christian Mc-
Cracken, aliens, be and they are hereby authorized
and empowered to take and receive, hold and con-
vey, all the several interests in the lands lying in
Montgomery County, of which the late William
Dalzell died seized and possessed, which they
would be entitled to take by descent if they were
not aliens; and that they be and they are hereby
made capable of transmitting and authorized to
transmit said interest in said lands to their heirs
or devisees as fully and effectually and in the same
manner as if they wore by birth citizens of the
State.

See. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.
