CHAPTER 12.
AN ACT to authorize and empower the Board of
County Commissioners of Baltimore and Harford
counties, at the joint expense of said counties, to
"build a bridge over the Little Gunpowder River,
at or near Joshua R. Green's ford.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Boards of County Commissioners
of Baltimore and Harford counties are hereby author-
ized and empowered, if they deem it expedient, to
levy on the assessable property of their respective
counties a sum equal to one-half the amount neces-
sary to build a good and substantial bridge over the
Little Gunpowder River, at or near the ford near the
dwelling of Joshua R. Green.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty
of the Boards of County Commissioners aforesaid to
adopt a plan according to which said bridge shall
be constructed, and of such material as they may
think best, of which due notice shall be given in at
least two newspapers, in each of said counties, for the
space of four weeks, for the purpose of receiving
proposals for building of said bridge, according to
the plan adopted.
SEC. 3. And be, it enacted, That the Boards of
County Commissioners aforesaid are authorized, after
the said notice is given as aforesaid, to contract with
any person or persons, who may be the lowest re-
sponsible bidders, to build said bridge, and to take
bond or bonds, with good and sufficient security,
from the party or parties contracting to build said
bridge, for the faithful performance of their contract.
SEC. 4. And be it enacted. That the expenses of
building said bridge shall be equally divided between
the counties aforesaid.
SEC. 5. And be it enacted. That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.
