ALMSHOUSE.
1867, c. 419 provides, that the county commissioners of Prince George's county,
are authorized to sell and convey the present almshouse building and lot of ground,
either at public or private sale, and to build or purchase a proper house and suitable
tract of land, and in case they shall sell the present almshouse and lot aforesaid, the
proceeds shall be applied to building or purchasing a proper house and suitable
tract of land, provided, that the whole cost of executing this act shall not exceed
fifteen thousand dollars. That the said commissioners are empowered to enter into
any contracts that may be necessary to carry out the purposes of this act, and shall
levy in installments of one, two and three years, the sums necessary to carry out
the foregoing provisions.
BRIDGES.
1865, c. 131 provides, that Richard Wootten, of Prince George's county, and D.
McCullough Brogden, of Anne Arundel county, are appointed commissioners with
power and authority to have a causeway constructed, connecting the bridge over the
Patuxent river, near the village of Queen Anne, in Prince George's county, to the
main or firm land m Anne Arundel county, opposite the said bridge; the commis-
sioners shall after three weeks' notice in the newspapers published in each of said
counties, contract with the lowest responsible bidder for furnishing the materials
and doing the work necessary in the building of said causeway. That the expense
