of building said causeway shall be jointly paid by the said counties, and the county
commissioners of each county are hereby directed and required, at their next
annual assessment or levy laying term, to levy the sum of money not exceeding the
sum of seven hundred and fifty dollars, to pay for the same, and the said commis-
sioners shall be paid such sum as the county commisioners of the respective counties
shall deem just and reasonable to compensate them for services rendered under
this act. 1867, c. 57 provides that the commissioners of Prince George's county
are hereby required and empowered to cause a substantial bridge for travel to be
constructed under their direction across the eastern brunch at Bladensburg on the
turnpike leading to Washington; and to that end they are hereby authorized to
adopt such plans and make such contracts and to do all other acts necessary for
the erection and completion of said bridge. That the said county commissioners of
Prince George's county shall levy upon the taxable property of their county for the
construction and Completion of said bridge.

47. The county commissioners for Prince George's
county shall, on or before the first Tuesday of July in
each year, appoint a collector or collectors for said
county for the 'collection of taxes levied or to be
levied for the current year.

48. The clerk of the county commissioners for
Prince George's county shall annually, on or before
the first day of July, inform the governor whether
there is in said county a duly appointed and qualified
collector of the state taxes.

49. If there be no collector of state taxes appointed
and qualified in Prince George's county by the first
day of August in any year, the governor shall
appoint from any part of the state a collector for said
county, who shall give bond with a surety or sure-
ties, to be approved by the governor or the circuit
court for Prince George's county, and to be recorded
and be in all respects on a footing with other collec-
tors' bonds; and a copy thereof certified by the
clerk of the said county, in whose office the same is
recorded, shall by the said clerk be forthwith trans-
mitted to the comptroller, and the said collector shall
have all the powers of other collectors.
