COUNTY COMMISSIONERS.

1S6G, c. 136 repeals 1S62, c. 33 and 1864, c. 255 end enacts the following as a sub-
stitute for section 75:

75. The clerk to the county commissioners for
Queen Anne's county, shall receive annually as a
compensation for his services, such sum as the
county commissioners may deem proper, not ex-
ceeding four hundred dollars, and the said clerk is

hereby empowered to administer an oath or affirma-
tion to any account to any person presenting a claim
to the commissioners, against the county; but said
clerk shall not administer such oath or affirmation
in any other place than in this office, and he shall be
allowed the usual fee of a justice, of the peace for the
same services.

In force from January 10, 1866.
1864, c. 253 adds the following to follow section 75:

76. The county commissioners of Queen Anne's
county may levy on the assessable property of
Queen Anne's county, for the use of the commis-
sioners of the town of Centreville, annually, such
sum of money as in their judgment may be just
and equitable, to assist the said town commissioners
to keep the roads and streets in said town in proper
repair and order; the same to be paid to the proper
officer of the town commissioners, who are hereby
invested with the control thereof.

1867, c. 292 provides, that the county commissioners for Queen Anne's county are
hereby empowered to contract for and superintend, or in their discretion, to appoint
some suitable person or persons to superintend the building of a new Jail on the
public ground in Centreville, and for furnishing the Jail when so erected with all
the necessary furniture for the detention and comfort of prisoners confined therein.
That the county commissioners for Queen Anne's county are hereby authorized and
required to levy upon the assessable property of said county to an amount not
