What tax may
be levied for
schools.

that other taxes are levied and collected, which sums,
when so collected, shall also be paid over to the said

treasurer; provided, there shall not be levied, or col-
lected in any one year, more than twenty -four cents,
in every hundred dollars; but a special tax may be
imposed upon any school district, if a majority of
the tax-payers in said school district shall so petition
the county commissioners.

laws inconsistent therewith are repealed.

1865. c. 108 repeals section 199 and enacts the following in lieu thereof:

199. The sheriff of Somerset county shall be
entitled to the sum of forty cents per day for keep- -
ing and boarding each prisoner committed to the jail
of said county.
