CHAPTER 363.

AN ACT to appropriate four thousand eight hun-

dred and twenty-four dollars and seventy-five cents

out of the public school funds, to reimburse Gar-

rett county for instalments of said fund withheld

from said county, in the years eighteen hundred

and seventy-seven, eighteen hundred and seventy-

eight, and eighteen hundred and seventy-nine and

eighteen hundred and eighty.

WHEREAS the sum of four thousand eight hundred

and twenty-four dollars and seventy-five cents, viz :

Thirteen hundred and sixty eight dollars and fifty-

four cents, in the year eighteen hundred and seventy-
seven ; thirteen hundred and seven dollars and sixty-

seven cents, in the year eighteen hundred and

seventy-eight ; eight hundred and fifty-three dollars

and twenty-three cents, in the year eighteen hundred

and seventy-nine, and twelve hundred and ninety-

five dollars and thirty-one cents, in the year eighteen

of the public school funds to Garrett county, was

withheld from and not paid to the Board of School

Commissioners of s.aid county on account of the ina-

bility of said county to comply with the law requir-

ing the public schools in the counties to be kept

open seven and a half months- in each year, said

inability arising from the fact of the said county

having been but recently created, and subjected to

large expenses in the organization of her county

government and the erection of county buildings

and building new school houses.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly

of Maryland, That the Treasurer, on the warrant of
