ner and to the same intent as the seller would have


been had be been found guilty of a violation of the


same.


SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That in order to ascer-


tain the will of the people of Charles county in re-


gard to the sale of intoxicating liquors therein, the


legal qualified voters of said county are hereby


authorized to cast a separate ballot at the general


election in November, eighteen hundred and eighty,


of which due notice shall be given, as the case of


other ballots and tickets so voted shall be, on a sepa-


rate piece of paper, with the word "license" on the


outside, and "for license" or "against license" on

election and deposited by them in a box provided


for the purpose, and the said tickets shall be counted


and returned as other ballots are counted and re-


turned, and the result shall be certified to by said


judges in the same way and manner as other ballots

clerk of the Circuit Court for said county to proclaim


the result by publication in the newspapers pub-
lished in said county within ten days after the returns


shall be received by him.


SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That if at said election


there be more votes cast in the said county " against


license" than there are "for license," then the pro-


visions of this act shall be and continue in force in


said county, and not otherwise ; and in such case no


license shall issue for the sale of any intoxicating

county, on and after the first day of January, eighteen
hundred and eighty-one, nor shall any intoxicating


liqiiors be sold therein except as provided for in sec-


tion seven of this act ; but if there are more votes
