stone; then south eighty-eight (88) degrees east twenty-five
hundred and ninety-five (2595) feet to a set stone ; then north
twenty-nine and one fourth (29 1/4) degrees east twenty-five
hundred and thirty (2530) feet to a set stone on the north side
of the aforementioned main road ; then north twenty-two and
one-half (22 1/2) degrees west nineteen hundred and forty-seven
(1947) feet to a set stone near Duffield's house; then north
eighty-three and one-half (83 1/2) degrees west seventeen
hundred and eighty-two (1782) feet to a set stone ; then south
forty-four and three-fourths (44 3/4) degrees west twenty-one
hundred and twelve (2112) feet to a set stone; then south five
and one-half (5 1/2) degrees east eleven hundred and fifty-five
(1155) feet to the beginning; containing two hundred and
ninety-seven (297) acres of land, more or less.

Authority to
pass and
enact ordi-
nances, etc.

102. The Town Commissioners of La Plata shall pass and
enact such ordinances and make such improvements not incon-
sistent with law as they may deem beneficial to the town and
necessary for the good government thereof ; they may open,
widen, straighten, change and close highways, roads, streets,
lanes and alleys within the corporate limits of said town of
La Plata, and may make, grade, repair and pave the same ;
they may dig or ditch for draining purposes and make sub-
ways, either for draining or for sewerage purposes; they may
remove nuisances and obstructions from said town ; they may
restrain all disorders and disturbances within said town ; they
may prevent and prohibit all congregations of disorderly
persons within the limits of said town ; they may apprehend
and fine all tramps, vagabonds and disorderly persons who
shall enter or be found within the limits of said town ; they
may impose a tax on all geese, dogs, hogs and other animals,
if any, other than those hereinafter provided against running
at large within the limits of said town, or may prohibit such
running at large under such penalties as they may choose to
impose upon the owners of such geese and animals, and they
shall impose and collect tines, penalties and forfeitures for
the violation of ordinances passed and enacted by them, and
may commit or cause to be committed all offenders against
such ordinances to the county jail until such tines, penalties
and forfeitures be paid, with costs, but not exceeding thirty
days.

SEC. 2. Be it enacted, That the following new sections
be and the same are hereby added to the Code of Public
Local Laws of the State of Maryland, title "Charles County,"
sub-title "La Plata," to come in after section 116, and be
numbered, respectively, sections 116 A, 116 B, 116 C, 116 D,
116 E, 116 F, 116 G and 116 H.
