such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or applica-
tions of the sub-title which can be given effect without the
invalid provision or application, and to this end the provi-
sions of this sub-title are declared to be severable.
285Y. This sub-title shall be so interpreted and con-
strued as to effectuate its general purpose and to make uni-
form the laws of those States which enact it.
285Z. This sub-title may be cited as the uniform nar-
cotic drug act.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all acts or parts
of acts which are inconsistent with the provisions of this
act are hereby repealed.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1935.

CHAPTER 60.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section
365 of Article 27 of the Code of Public General Laws of
Maryland (1924 Edition), title "Crimes and Punish-
ments, " sub-title "Marrying Unlawfully, " prohibiting
marriages between white persons and members of the
Malay race and between negroes and members of the
Malay race.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 365 of Article 27 of the Code of
Public General Laws of Maryland (1924 Edition), title
"Crimes and Punishments, " sub-title "Marrying Unlaw-
fully, " be and said Section is hereby repealed and re-
enacted with amendments so as to read as follows:
365. All marriages between a white person and a negro,
or between a white person and a person of negro descent,
to the third generation, inclusive, or between a white
person and a member of the Malay race or between a negro
and a member of the Malay race, or between a person of
negro descent, to the third generation, inclusive, and a
member of the Malay race, are forever prohibited, and shall
