be void; and any person violating the provisions of this
Section shall be deemed guilty of an infamous crime, and
punished by imprisonment in the penitentiary not less than
eighteen months nor more than ten years: provided,
however, that the provisions of this Section shall not apply
to marriages between white persons and members of the
Malay race, or between negroes and members of the Malay
race, or between persons of negro descent, to the third
generation, inclusive, and members of the Malay race,
existing prior to June 1, 1935.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all Acts or
parts of Acts inconsistent with the provisions of this Act
be and they are hereby repealed to the extent of any such
inconsistency.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1935.

CHAPTER 61.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Sub-
section (3) of Section 193 of Article 56 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1929 Supplement), title "Licen-
ses, " sub-title "Brakes, Bells, Lights and Mufflers, " to
provide the penalty for parking motor vehicles without
lights.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Sub-section (3) of Section 193 of Article
56 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1929 Supplement),
title "Licenses, " sub-title "Brakes, Bells, Lights and Muf-
flers, " be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted with
amendments to read as follows:

(3) Lights. Every vehicle, including motor vehicles
and horse drawn vehicles, operated or driven on the public
highways of the State, at any time when there is not suf-
ficient daylight to render clearly discernible a person,
vehicle or other substantial object on the highway at a dis-
tance of two hundred (200) feet ahead, shall be provided
with lights, as hereinafter provided of sufficient power and
