tion 20 of Article 23 of said Code, title "Wicomico County, "
sub-title "Court Stenographer, " and Section 49 of Article
24 of said Code, title "Worcester County, " sub-title "Court
Stenographer, " be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted
with amendments, to read as follows:
136. The salary of said stenographer shall be fifteen
hundred ($1, 500) dollars per year, the said salary to be paid
as follows: The County Commissioners of Dorchester
County, Wicomico County, Somerset County and Worcester
County shall each pay the sum of three hundred and
seventy-five dollars thereof. Said payments to be made in
quarterly installments during the service, on the presenta-
tion of the certificate of the clerk of either county or of
either of said judges of said court, to the County Com-
missioners certifying to the services of said court stenog-
rapher. And the said County Commissioners of the sev-
eral counties are hereby directed and empowered to pro-
vide for the payment of their several portions of the
salary of the said stenographer at once on presentation
of said certificate.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is
hereby declared to be an emergency law and necessary
for the immediate preservation of the public health and
safety, and being passed upon by a yea and nay vote
supported by all of the members elected to each of the
two Houses of the General Assembly the same shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 68.
AN ACT to amend Section 2 of Chapter 259 of the Laws of
Maryland of 1933, providing for the administration of
fiscal affairs of Montgomery County, and prescribing the
duties of the County Accountant.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 2 of Chapter 259 of the Laws of
