SPECIAL MEETING FOR ANNEXATION
MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF HANCOCK, MARYLAND
April 20, 1970
RESOLUTION TO ANNEX
Resolution of the Mayor and Council of Hancock to enlarge the
corporate boundaries of the Municipal Corporation and annex land
contiguous and adjoining the existing corporate area pursuant to
the authority of Section 19 of Article 23A of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1957 Edition), as amended.
WHEREAS, for convenience of reference, the Mayor and Council of
Hancock, a municipal corporation of the State of Maryland, has authority
in Section 19 of Article 23A of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957
Edition), as amended, to enlarge the corporate boundaries of the munici-
pal corporation, and
WHEREAS, the area intended to be annexed is contiguous and ad-
joining to the existing corporate area as required by said Section 19 of
Article 23A of the Annotated Code of Maryland, and
WHEREAS, The Mayor and Council have obtained the consent for
the proposed annexation from one hundred per cent of the property owners
who own or reside in the area to be annexed and consent from the owners
of one hundred per cent of the assessed valuation of the properties located
in the area to be annexed, which consents meet the requirements of said
Section 19 of Article 23A of the Annotated Code of Maryland; a copy of
the consent (Agreement to Annex) dated April 15, 1970, by and between
Fleetwood Enterprises, Inc., a California Corporation, The Board of Edu-
cation of Washington County, a Maryland Corporation, Albert G. Creek
and Delores Y. Creek, his wife, of Washington County, Maryland, William
H. Hess and Maud Virginia Hess, his wife, of Washington County, Mary-
land, The Mayor and Council of Hancock, a Municipal Corporation of the
State of Maryland, Adele M. Cohill Donnelly and Ralph H. Donnelly, her
husband, of Washington County, Maryland, and Tri-State Cable T.V., Inc.,
a Maryland Corporation, and The Mayor and Council of Hancock, being
attached hereto and made a part of this Resolution, and
WHEREAS, the area to be annexed is shown on a plat attached to
the consent agreement dated April 15, 1970, referred to in the next pre-
ceding paragraph and is described by metes and bounds, courses and dis-
tances as follows:
Tract 1: Beginning at a concrete monument in the south marginal
line of Maryland Route No. 144 (formerly old U.S. 40) about 1000 ft.
west of the Hancock City line, said concrete monument being also the
northeast corner of the property conveyed to Jessie Kerns as recorded in
Liber 156, Folio 338, and running thence with the Eastern Boundary line
of said conveyance, with the following true bearings and distances as
determined by a recent survey: (1) South 6 degrees 35 minutes East 218.81
feet to a concrete monument, thence with the eastern line of the property
conveyed by the grantor herein to James Kerns, recorded in Liber 223,
Folio 273; (2) South 29 degrees 39 minutes West 404.63 feet to a concrete
monument, the dividing line between the property of the grantor and
the Locker estate, thence with the fence line the following four courses
and distances: (3) South 41 degrees 21 minutes East 784.30 feet to a
concrete monument; (4) South 68 degrees 9 minutes East 176.11 feet to
