RESOLUTION AMENDING SECTION 28-2 OF THE CHARTER

OF THE TOWN OF NORTH EAST RELATIVE TO VOTING
AGE AND RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS

Resolution of the Mayor and Commissioners of the Town of North East,
adopted pursuant to the authority of Article 11E of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1957 Edition), Title "Corporations - Municipal" as said section was
enacted by Chapter 423 of the Laws of Maryland of 1955, to add a new section to the
Code of the Public Local Laws of Cecil County of 1953, said new section to be known
as Section 28-2, and constituting an amendment to the municipal charter of the body
politic and corporate known as the Town of North East, said new section to change
residency regulations and age of voters.

WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 13 of Article 23A of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1957 Edition) the Mayor and Commissioners of the Town of
North East are desirous of amending Section 28-2 of the charter of the Town of
North East relating to residency regulations and voting age.

Section 1. BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Commissioners of the Town
of North East, that Section 28-2 of the charter of the Town of North East be and
it is hereby amended to read as follows:

SECTION 28-2 - QUALIFICATIONS OF COMMISSIONERS AND
VOTERS - SAID BOARD SHALL CONSIST OF FIVE (5) PERSONS - A
PRESIDENT AND FOUR (4) COMMISSIONERS - WHO SHALL BE
CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES AT LEAST TWENTY-FIVE (25)
YEARS OF AGE, AND BONA FIDE RESIDENTS OF SAID TOWN FOR
AT LEAST TWO (2) YEARS NEXT PRECEDING THE DATE OF THEIR
ELECTION, AND ALL CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES ABOVE
EIGHTEEN (18) YEARS OF AGE WHO SHALL OWN PROPERTY
ASSESSED IN THE LIMITS OF THE TOWN AND SHALL HAVE PAID
THEIR TAXES, AND ALL INHABITANTS OF THE TOWN, CITIZENS OF
THE UNITED STATES, ABOVE EIGHTEEN (18) YEARS OF AGE WHO
SHALL OWN PROPERTY ASSESSED IN THE LIMITS OF THE TOWN
AND SHALL HAVE PAID THEIR TAXES, AND ALL INHABITANTS OF
